請教關於ORF可否使用在MailD...

目前使用ORF(http://www.vamsoft.com)郵件SPAM過濾軟體+Exchange,近日想使用貴公司的MailD的軟體,但不知道可否仍可使用ORF軟體當做SPAM過濾呢?
以下為我與該公司的詢問,目前公司使用者約150人左右...

As ORF integrates into IIS SMTP and Exchange (instead of working like a separate SMTP proxy), it requires either an IIS SMTP server or Exchange to work: it does not support other SMTP servers (like Mdaemon and Raidenmaild) directly.

You can work this around by using ORF with IIS SMTP in a forwarding setup (even on a single server), so ORF + IIS SMTP can filter the mail flow first and forward it to Mdaemon or Raidenmaild.

1. Install the IIS SMTP Service (Windows component, available in Windows 2000/2003/XP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308161), you can even install it on Windows Server 2008 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8b83ac7t.aspx)), and start the Default SMTP Virtual Server on port 25
2. To avoid 8BITMIME conflicts between and IIS SMTP and Mdaemon or Raidenmaild, disable 8BITMIME advertising of the IIS SMTP Service. The process of disabling the 8BITMIME advertising is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;262168
3. Change the listening port of Mdaemon or Raidenmaild to something else, e.g. 2525. I assume this is possible and described in the documentation of both software.
4. Set the outgoing TCP port of IIS SMTP to the port where Mdaemon or Raidenmaild listens (IIS Admin / SMTP service properties / General tab / Connection / Outgoing TCP port > 2525)
5. Configure Mdaemon or Raidenmaild as a smart host in IIS SMTP (Delivery tab / Advanced / Smart host). The smart host is the IP address (or 127.0.0.1, if Mdaemon or Raidenmaild listens on localhost) of the computer.
6. Add your domains as "remote domains" to the IIS SMTP with the same smart host settings.
7. Install ORF (http://www.vamsoft.com/downloads/installationguide.pdf)

Now all emails should arrive to IIS SMTP first, ORF could filter them, and the filtered emails are forwarded to Mdaemon or Raidenmaild on port 2525.

也就是 25 port 要給 IIS SMTP 用, 你的 SMTP Server 要改用 port 2525 (或任何你想要用的port), 然後 IIS SMTP 要設定你的網域收到後要轉到同台電腦的 2525, 進而才能讓 mail server把信放信使用者的信箱裡

所以呢, 基本上, 任何 mail server 都應該能這樣搭配才對.

但是, 這種架構有些問題要先了解
1. 你的伺服器接到外界都信都是同一台 IP 來的 (127.0.0.1), 所以 RBL 的檢查完全沒用.
2. 由於 IIS SMTP 沒有使用者清單, 它無法幫你分辨那些信箱是真的存在, 然後才往 mail server 送, 所以一般的字典攻擊可能會造成一些問題, 這就要端看 IIS SMTP 會不會寄退信.
